Registration at the Korbach Vaccination Centre now possible

The vaccination centre in Korbach will open its doors on 9 February. The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg received the corresponding operational order from the state of Hesse yesterday. Registrations for vaccination will be possible through the state of Hesse from 3 February - online and by telephone. In addition, the towns and municipalities of the district will also personally write to members of the prioritised age group in Waldeck-Frankenberg.

100 vaccinations per day

"According to the state's deployment order, we have about 4,250 vaccine doses available by the end of the month," said District Administrator Dr Reinhard Kubat and First District Commissioner and Head of Health Karl-Friedrich Frese. "This will be used to vaccinate over-80s through the mobile teams and at the vaccination centre in Korbach, as well as the highest priority occupational groups." The centre in the large sports hall on the Hauer will initially be open for this from 9am to 6pm on Mondays to Saturdays. Two vaccination lines will initially be put into operation. "We expect that this will allow us to vaccinate around 100 people initially of the prioritised age group per day."

Outreach immunisation for people with reduced mobility

For people who are limited in their mobility, there is to be another possibility for vaccination, which the district has worked out together with the towns and municipalities: a central location will be set up in each town or municipality where mobile teams - similar to those in the old people's and nursing homes - will vaccinate people who cannot make the trip to Korbach due to health restrictions. The over-80s will be informed about the exact procedure in a personal letter sent to them by their home town or municipality.

"In this way, we would like to open up the possibility for older people, people in need of care and people with severely impaired health over the age of 80 to be vaccinated close to home," the district administrator and first district councillor continue. However, both ask that this offer be reserved for people who do not have the opportunity to come to Korbach. "Those who are mobile enough should please get vaccinated at the centre to give priority to outreach vaccination to people who really need it."

Registration for vaccination from 3 February

Senior citizens aged 80 and over who do not live in a retirement or nursing home can register for vaccination at the Korbach vaccination centre from Wednesday, 3 February. The state of Hesse has specified that registration is possible in two ways:

By telephone via Tel. 0611 505 92 888 or Tel. 116 117

or

Online at www.impfterminservice.hessen.de or www.impfterminservice.de

The state of Hesse emphasises that both routes lead equally to the allocation of appointments. After the call centres and the online portal were overloaded a few weeks ago, it had prepared very well for the start of registration for the regional 28 vaccination centres, but asks for patience, as not all people can use the appointment service at the same time. Registration through these two routes is for those over 80 years of age. Professional groups in the first prioritisation group, such as employees of clinics and nursing services, will be informed separately by the district as before.

District Administrator Dr. Kubat and First District Councillor Frese see the start of vaccinations and the commissioning of the vaccination centre in Korbach as an important step in combating the pandemic: "It is true that the doses available for Waldeck-Frankenberg for the time being are not yet sufficient for the start of mass immunisation. But we assume that we will be able to vaccinate a large number of members of the prioritised groups with them." It is hoped that through increased production capacities of the already approved vaccines and through the approval of further serums, the available quantity of vaccine doses can soon be noticeably increased, so that the immunisation of the population will make significant progress by the summer.
