New EU Organic Regulation: District offers online lecture

Since 1 January 2022, there has been a new EU organic regulation, which is also considered by experts to be the "organic basic law". It replaces the regulation in force from 2009 to 2021 and contains numerous changes for agricultural production. Whether it is the new precautionary concept or a more risk-oriented control, the new concept of "conversion production units" or the additional purchase of (breeding) animals, the organic sector has to familiarise itself with a lot of new things.

In order to make it easier for organic farms to find their way around the amended regulation and to show them a way through what many farmers perceive as a jungle of paragraphs, an online seminar entitled "Important information on the new organic regulation" will be held on 16 February 2022 from 7:00 pm. The organisers are the agricultural department of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district and the Waldeck-Frankenberg eco-model region. The focus will be on the changes to the old regulation, presented by Mr. Carsten Alff, responsible for the area of "organic farming" at the Regierungspräsidium Gießen. All interested agricultural (organic) businesses are invited to participate in the free online seminar.

Registrations are accepted from now until 15 February 2022 by the district's agriculture department at juliane.wagener@lkwafkb.de. The event will take place via the "Big Blue Button"; participants will receive their access data one day before. The agricultural department and the Waldeck-Frankenberg eco-model region would be pleased to see a large number of participants.
