Funding for health centres in Battenberg and Frankenau
First District Councillor and Head of the Health Department Karl-Friedrich Frese took advantage of the monthly meeting of the "Health Centres" working group to present the mayors of the towns of Battenberg (Eder) and Frankenau with notices granting subsidies. 200,000 euros each from district funds for infrastructure promotion are to support the new construction of the Battenberg health centre and the Frankenau health centre. Fortunately, this will contribute to the financing of an important project - both for the two municipalities and for Waldeck-Frankenberg - which will significantly improve medical care in the region.
The funding will be provided in two instalments, 100,000 euros each from the budget years 2023 and 2024 per municipality. The funding is based on eligible expenses (construction costs) of the two health centres of 2 million euros each. A maximum of 10 per cent of the construction costs can be granted as a subsidy from the district, but no more than 200,000 euros.
At the meeting of the "Health Centres" working group, the mayors informed about the current status of the construction projects. In Battenberg, it can still be assumed that the health centre will be completed at the end of the year. The range of services is to include a general medical practice, a dental practice, physiotherapy, podiatry, psychotherapy and medical supplies as well as the office for the community nurse. The situation is similar at the Frankenau health centre, which is in the expansion phase. Here, a GP practice, a nursing centre, a pharmacy, a physiotherapy practice and a dental practice are planned. Head of Health Frese and the mayors are in intensive talks with the state of Hesse to find further funding opportunities for the two important building projects.
