Healthy living: Waldeck-Frankenberg district organises information days

The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is committed to strengthening the health literacy of its citizens. Under the motto "Well informed - healthy living", the health department is therefore organising three information days on health topics for the first time in 2025 in collaboration with cooperation partners.

"Electronic patient file" on 24 April
An information event on the electronic patient file (ePA) will kick off on 24 April 2025 in Frankenberg at 4.30 pm in the Philipp Soldan Forum. Vivienne Mekhzoum from the eHealth Competence Centre in Hesse will inform participants about the planned "ePA for all". She will explain how the ePA can be used, who has access to the documents, which documents can be saved and how data protection is guaranteed.

"Growing older healthily" on 12 June
On 12 June 2025, a lecture on the topic of "Growing older healthily - nutrition in old age and support options for family carers" will be held at 10 a.m. in the Bürgerhaus Korbach. Gabriele Mertens-Zündorf from the Networking Centre for Senior Nutrition in Hesse will talk about healthy nutrition in old age. Special attention will be paid to nutrition in hot weather and the special needs of people in need of care.

"Together against loneliness" on 28 October
The event will conclude on 28 October 2025 at 4.30 pm in the Bad Arolsen community centre with an event on the topic of loneliness. In cooperation with the self-help contact centre, an afternoon will be organised that offers an opportunity for exchange and provides information on the health consequences of loneliness and ways out of social isolation.

Free of charge and without registration
All events are free of charge and accessible without prior registration. They offer citizens the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information, ask questions and exchange ideas with others. In this way, the district would like to contribute to better health decisions being made.

Categorising information correctly
Today, there is more information available on the internet alone than ever before. "There is an abundance of information on health topics that many people are unable to categorise correctly," says Katharina Wilke from the Health Service. "Some are only partially correct, others are simply wrong. Many people find it difficult to find trustworthy sources and get reliable help." The aim of the information days is to facilitate access to serious, precise, knowledge-based information and reliable health information.

"Our information days provide insights into various health topics in short presentations and convey offers of help and support," says the First District Councillor of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. "Above all, however, they provide correct and reliable information - and concrete, everyday impulses for making well-founded decisions in the areas of disease management, disease prevention and health promotion."

Interested citizens are cordially invited to attend the events. However, the district is also happy to receive feedback if there are specific health topics on which citizens would like an information event. For further information, please contact Julia Brand on 05631- 9541540 or by e-mail at julia.brand@lkwafkb.de and Katharina Wilke on 05631-9541489 or by e-mail.

The information days were initiated by the Public Health department of the district's health service. It sees health as a social responsibility and aims to develop strategies to ensure healthcare and promote the health and well-being of the entire population. Further information is also available online.
