Further training for the self-help contact centre

On 8 September 2025, the Waldeck-Frankenberg self-help contact point is offering the first of two free training events on the topic of "The importance of places in end-of-life and bereavement care". The event is aimed at all those interested in self-help who feel addressed by a topic that has been sidelined. From 9.30 am to approx. 1.30 pm, the feature film "Maria's last journey" will be shown in the premises of the self-help contact centre at Südring 3 in Korbach (new administrative building of the district). On this basis, the question of dying within one's own four walls will be discussed and the phases of experiencing separation will be revisited.

Dying and mourning are considered to be processes of separation that existentially affect our experience and bring everyday life to a standstill for a moment. Places and spaces in which these processes can take place in a meaningful way and be accompanied with care play a fundamentally important role here.

The event on 8 September is dedicated to the question of which places exist in a modern, very one-sidedly life-oriented age that allow and, if necessary, accompany the final separation processes in dying and mourning in a meaningful way. Such places are often well hidden in a society whose credo is usually "forever young". The second event on this topic will take place on 15 September at the Frankenberg Hospice and can be seen as a continuation. However, participation in the second event is not linked to participation in the event in Korbach.

The number of participants is limited to 15 for both dates and registration is required. You can register for Korbach until 4 September 2025 by calling the self-help contact point on 05631/954 1888 or sending an email to shk@lkwafkb.de. If you have any further questions about the events, you can also contact the staff at the self-help contact centre at any time.
