The election to the 21st Bundestag took place on 23 February 2025. The German Bundestag is the representative body of the Federal Republic of Germany and, as the authoritative legislative body, its most important organ. It consists of representatives of the German people, who are elected by direct, free, equal and secret ballot for a four-year term of office. The federal territory is currently divided into 299 constituencies. The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is divided into constituency 166 Waldeck for the old district of Waldeck and constituency 169 for the old district of Frankenberg. Constituency 166 - Waldeck includes: the municipalities of Bad Arolsen, Bad Wildungen, Diemelsee, Diemelstadt, Edertal, Korbach, Lichtenfels, Twistetal, Volkmarsen, Waldeck, Willingen (Upland) and other municipalities in the district of Kassel from the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. Constituency 169 - Schwalm-Eder includes: from the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg the municipalities of Allendorf (Eder), Battenberg (Eder), Burgwald, Frankenau, Frankenberg (Eder), Gemünden (Wohra), Haina (Kloster), Hatzfeld (Eder), Rosenthal, Vöhl and other municipalities from the district of Schwalm-Eder.
