    If you as a responsible person intend to take up specific activities with pathogens (without a permit or subject to a permit), you must report this.

    The obligation to notify exists irrespective of whether it concerns activities that have already been notified in the past, that have already been carried out by another responsible person or whether it concerns new activities that have not yet been notified.
    There is no obligation to notify employees who work under the supervision of a person who has the required permit for activities with pathogens.

    The competent authority shall inspect the existing rooms, facilities and disposal measures.
    A notification of change is required if there are significant changes in the nature of the rooms and facilities, the disposal measures or the type and scope of the activities compared to a previous notification.

    A notification of change is also required if a person terminates the activities or resumes the same activities already notified after their termination.
     

  • Which documents are required?

    You can submit the informal notification in writing or in person.

    Documents:

    • certified copy of the permit for activities with pathogenic agents or information on the exemption from permission of the intended activities
    • Information on the nature and extent of the intended commencement of activities and disposal measures
    • Information on the condition of the rooms and facilities

    If you submit the notification in writing to the competent body, it must be signed by hand or provided with a qualified electronic signature.
     

  • What are the fees?

    Fees are charged in accordance with the administrative cost regulations for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration (VwKostO-HMSI). The amount of the fee is calculated according to the time spent.

  • What deadlines do I have to observe?

    The notification shall be made to the authority at least 30 days before the intended commencement of the activities.

    After expiry of this period, the activity may be commenced if it has not been prohibited by the authority.

    The period shall not commence until the authority has received all the required documents in full.
