Service jackets for emergency counselling - district supports purchase with donation

They are deployed in the event of traumatic incidents such as serious accidents or sudden deaths and provide valuable support to the volunteer fire brigades, police and rescue services: the 50 men and women of the emergency chaplaincy in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. The emergency counsellors have now been given service jackets so that they can be identified immediately in the event of major incidents and can be better distinguished visually from the other helpers. The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg has contributed to the purchase of the jackets with a grant of 5,000 euros. Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg and Energie Waldeck-Frankenberg have also contributed 2,500 euros each towards the funding.

"Emergency pastoral care is an integral part of the emergency response system," emphasised First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese, who is responsible for fire protection and rescue services. It was therefore a matter of course for the district to support the interdenominational assistance service, which is based in the Eder and Twiste-Eisenberg church districts, wherever possible. District fire inspector Gerhard Biederbick added: "Our volunteer fire brigades are happy to have trained specialists at their side who take care of the personal aspect of a major incident." This means that the fire and disaster protection officers can concentrate on their specialist area of technical rescue. This ensures the highest possible level of effectiveness in emergency response.

On behalf of the Eder and Twiste-Eisenberg church districts, the two emergency counselling officers, Pastor Sabrina Niemeyer, Haina (monastery), and Pastor Jörg Schultze, Diemelsee, thanked the district and other funding bodies for their financial support. They explained that emergency counselling is part of psychosocial emergency care. In Waldeck-Frankenberg, it is largely carried out by pastors as a mandatory duty. However, there are also 10 trained volunteers on duty. The service jackets remain in the possession of the two church districts, are cleaned when emergency counsellors leave and passed on to new emergency personnel.
