Blessing for the district administration: carol singers visit the district building
A long-standing tradition at the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg was continued in 2025 - the carol singers visited the district administration to give their annual blessing. The well-known C+M+B = "Christus Mansionem Benedicat/ Christ bless this house" once again adorns the district building in Korbach and welcomes visitors directly above the main entrance on the Südring.
It is also a tradition for the head of administration to personally welcome the boys and girls. District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst welcomed the carol singers in the meeting room of the district committee, where the district councillors under his leadership usually decide on the fate of Waldeck-Frankenberg. Now that the blessing for 2025 has been placed on the door to the meeting room, as well as above the main entrance, it will certainly be a little easier for the committee to make decisions, said the district administrator.
The girls and boys took the opportunity to ask the district administrator questions and were informed about the district's various tasks and the most important goals for this year. "I think it's great that some of you have been working as carol singers for children and young people for many years," praised van der Horst - one 16-year-old reported that he was actually taking part in the Epiphany campaign for the 12th time. The district administrator concluded by emphasising once again that the campaign is a blessing for countless young people all over the world who benefit from the donations collected.
Background
The Epiphany singing campaign is organised by the children's missionary organisation "Die Sternsinger" and the Federation of German Catholic Youth. In the 66 years that the Epiphany campaign has been running, around 1.36 billion euros have been collected. Each year, a new theme with exemplary aid projects takes centre stage, and over 1,000 campaigns in around 100 countries worldwide are supported every year. The donations benefit children in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania, but also in Eastern Europe, which is not so far away from Germany.
Under the motto "Raise your voice!", the Epiphany 2025 campaign is focussing on children's rights, highlighting two projects in Kenya and Colombia. In the African region of Turkana in northern Kenya, the "St Paul the Apostle" community provides healthcare for children and pregnant women. Among other things, it runs preschools and primary schools. Another action partner, "Benposta", supports young people in Colombia in South America who suffer from violence or neglect. A "children's republic" has been created in which the young people largely organise their own daily lives and even elect their own mayor every two years.
