Monument Protection Award: Application deadline on 31 May
The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is once again sponsoring a monument preservation award in 2025 to honour and recognise monument preservation in Waldeck-Frankenberg. Applications will be accepted until 31 May.
Special commitment to monument conservation
The prize is awarded for special, exemplary achievements in monument conservation to natural and legal persons who have carried out a building project in the district as private developers. It consists of a financial contribution and an award certificate. The prize may be divided among several persons. Municipalities, associations, clubs and private individuals are entitled to nominate candidates. Self-applications are also permitted.
The application or nomination must be accompanied by sufficient documentation for the assessment of the achievement, such as details of the listed building and information on its history, details of the client and use of the building, before/after pictures and historical photos, details of the planning and construction period as well as planning documents and, for example, construction documentation, building surveys, permits and, if available, press articles. The awarding of the prize is decided by the district committee on the recommendation of an expert jury. The prize is presented to the winners at a ceremony.
Monuments create identity and demonstrate value
"Monuments create identity in a special way. They show: Here is a value whose potential is being utilised and here people are committed to protecting this value and preserving it as a testimony for posterity in the long term," emphasises Susanne Paulus, head of the district's building department. "We are therefore looking forward to receiving numerous applications, which can be submitted to us until 31 May." After the expert jury has met, there will be an award ceremony to publicise the recognised exemplary conservation achievements in an appropriate manner.
By taking part in the selection process, participants automatically authorise the district to publish their documents as part of the Monument Protection Award. The copyright claims of the entrants that go beyond the right of publication naturally remain unaffected. Applications or nominations should preferably be submitted in digitalised form by 31 May 2025 under the keyword "Denkmalschutzpreis 2025" to the District Committee of the District of Waldeck-Frankenberg, -Unter Denkmalschutzbehörde-, Südring 2, 34497 Korbach or by e-mail.
