Painting competition "Children show volunteering"
Creativity meets social commitment: The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg cordially invites all children in grades one to five to take part in the "Children show volunteering" painting competition. The artistic works can be sent by post to the volunteer team, Südring 2, 34497 Korbach, from now until 17 November. The winning pictures will then be selected by a jury and the winners will be honoured by District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst on 5 December - Volunteer Day.
"Commitment and a willingness to help are the heartbeat of our region. With the painting competition, we want to sensitise even the youngest of children to the importance of volunteering and at the same time strengthen society's appreciation of voluntary work," explains District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst. From the voluntary fire brigade and animal shelter to neighbourhood help, volunteers can be found in many different areas. The aim of the competition is to celebrate Volunteer Day on 5 December with an award ceremony and to highlight the importance of volunteering in society with artistic contributions. The aim is to give children a playful approach to the topic of volunteering in order to sensitise them to voluntary work. "We are looking forward to receiving lots of creative entries and hope that the children will have lots of fun drawing their pictures," adds Katharina Graf from the volunteering team.
All children in grades one to five in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg are eligible to participate. Each child may send in one picture. The closing date for entries is 17 November. The name of the child, the class level and school as well as the contact details of a parent or guardian (postal address, telephone number, e-mail address) must be noted on the back of the artwork. The award ceremony will take place on 5 December in Korbach and the winning pictures will be presented via the district's public channels in order to honour the creative work of the children and bring the importance of voluntary work to the public's attention.
