District sports badge: applications still possible until the end of the year
The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg intends to honour outstanding sporting achievements again for the 2025 sports year. In spring 2026, the sports plaque will be awarded in various categories at a ceremony. Whether in the gold, silver, bronze or certificate categories, for successes in disabled sport or for outstanding achievements, or as a badge of honour for many years of sporting commitment - there are many ways to honour sports achievements. The requirements for the award can be found in the guidelines for the awarding of the district's sports badge.
According to the district's sports and youth work department, teams or individuals can still be nominated for the award or registered by the clubs until 31 December 2025. Registration is possible online. As part of the application process, the results lists must be uploaded, showing the competition, location, date, number of participants and ranking.

Background
The basic requirement for the award of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district sports plaque is that the sporting successes have been achieved in official Olympic disciplines. Those to be honoured must live in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg or be a member of a local sports club.
- Sports plaque in gold > 1st - 3rd place at world or European championships or participation in Olympic Games or Olympic / world / European / German record or 1st place at a German championship
- Sports badge in silver > 4th - 6th place at world or European championships or 2nd place at a German championship
- Sports badge in bronze > 3rd place at a German championship or 1st place at regional championships at the level of several countries (South Germany/South-West Germany) or 1st place at a national championship or 1st place at German age group championships
- Certificate > see requirements for the sports badges and sportsmen and women aged 14 and over in championship competitions for schoolchildren m/f, youth, juniors m/f
