Carol singing blessing for the district administration in 2026 too

The girls and boys from the Catholic parishes are on the road again these days, dressed up as Kaspar, Melchior and Balthasar and giving the blessing of the carol singers. In addition to numerous private homes, their destinations include companies, associations and organisations as well as public authorities. The young blessing-givers also made a stop at the district administration on Korbach's Südring, a tradition that has been cultivated and welcomed for many years. There is barely enough space above the entrance to the district building to display the current blessing "C+M+B = Christus Mansionem Benedicat/ God bless this house".

Like the visit of the carol singers, it is also a tradition in the district that the head of administration personally greets the boys and girls and receives the blessing for the district administration. This year, First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese welcomed the blessing-givers and learned more about the 2026 campaign motto "School instead of factory - carol singing against child labour". This year's focus is on Bangladesh, where 1.8 million children and young people have to work even though they would much rather go to school and learn something. Organisations in the South Asian country, supported by the Three Kings' Singing campaign, are working to free children from working conditions and enable them to attend school.

The First District Councillor thanked the carol singers for their commitment and, of course, also made a donation to thank them for their commitment to children around the world whose living conditions are nowhere near as good as they are here in Germany. Every year, around 1,000 projects are supported by the donations collected, with almost 36 million euros being used for this purpose in 2024. "You not only bring the blessing, you are also a blessing yourselves," said Frese, praising the young blessing bringers.
