Digital parents' evenings: New information programme for parents and families

The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is expanding its support and information services for families in the new year: the digital parents' evenings are a new format that offers low-threshold, location-independent knowledge and guidance on key topics relating to children and young people growing up. They take place every fortnight on Tuesdays. The first online event will take place on 20 January.

"Parents face many challenges today. With the digital parents' evenings, we want to support them in finding information and gaining more confidence in everyday family and school life," says Svenja Lotze from the district's specialist schools and education service. "The new format makes it possible to involve experts and provide information regardless of time and place."

Strengthening parents in their educational work
The digital parents' evenings will address a wide range of issues relating to family life, everyday school life and the development of children and young people. The aim is to strengthen parents in their parenting work, address current topics and provide well-founded professional input - in a flexible, contemporary and easily accessible way. The speakers are carefully selected and have proven professional expertise and practical experience in the respective subject areas.

Online event: "Separating as a couple, staying parents"
The first event on the topic of "Separating as a couple, staying parents" will take place on 20 January from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in the digital space. Separations are among the most profound upheavals in life - especially when there are children together. This talk will show ways in which mums and dads can continue a stable, reliable parenting relationship despite separation. Participants will receive a concise overview of key aspects of successful parental co-operation after separation. The lecture addresses typical points of conflict, provides psychological background knowledge and presents practical strategies that help to put the children's well-being at the centre while not losing sight of their own needs.

All information about participation can be found here. Anyone interested is cordially invited to take part. Prior registration is not necessary. You can use the link on the website to dial into the online events quickly and easily.

The digital parents' evenings are funded by the state-wide "Experience Youth" programme and are aimed at parents of all ages as well as those interested in education. The digital parents' evenings complement the district's existing counselling and information services and help to strengthen families in the district in the long term. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the programme, please contact the Schools and Education department by email.
