GrenzWelten National Geopark presents 2026 calendar of events
It can be picked up in paper form or downloaded online on a mobile device; it is also worth taking a look at the website to view it - the 2026 events calendar of the GrenzWelten National Geopark is now available. Events are on offer from 29 March to 15 November, with "classics" such as the Hohenäcker quarry in Frankenberg as well as the Veleda Cave in Bestwig as a completely new offer. The printed flyer can be obtained by telephone or email from the Geopark contact address and is available to take away from information centres such as tourist offices and museums.
Whether guided hikes or museum explorations, caving or lectures, but also getting to know the soil of the year or a dinosaur in a rainforest jar... the programme is as varied as the sub-regions of GrenzWelten. Those who take part in one of the events can discover geological secrets and marvel at the special features of nature and the landscape.
For example, there is a new volcano tour for families and children to the Helfensteinen near Zierenberg. The mountains and hills in our neighbourhood sometimes seem to have unfolded endlessly and slowly, while others appear to have erupted explosively and spectacularly into the landscape as volcanoes. But how is a volcano actually formed, do they also exist in our neighbourhood? What do the rocks produced by a volcano feel like? All these questions will be answered on the GrenzWelten volcano tour - see the events calendar for times and locations.
