Living social villages

Living social villages

With the "Living social villages!" initiative, the district is helping local people to get in touch with each other in order to promote social cohesion, strengthen democratic processes, revitalise rural areas threatened by out-migration - and thus sustainably improve the already excellent quality of life in Waldeck-Frankenberg.

A prerequisite for social interaction is a place where people can meet, which is a meeting place for and by people , where they can get in touch with each other to do, build or maintain something together. A place that is open to all people. The interests and needs of local people determine what happens in this social centre. This can be very diverse. People contribute their ideas here. They work together on a common cause, which they actively help to shape and mould. In this way, they make life in their community more attractive for themselves and others. The district supports the development and maintenance of these social centres.

Soziale Dörfer leben!" is a project of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg, funded by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Home Affairs (BMLEH) via the Federal Programme for Rural Development and Regional Value Creation (BULEplus). With the BULEplus programme, the BMLEH supports projects that serve as role models and provide impetus for rural regions throughout Germany.
