Every year, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg offers a refreshing and exciting leisure programme for children, young people and families. Discover the variety of programmes on offer
This year, families and young people from the region can once again choose from numerous great experiences. Whether it's a mini holiday full of fun and games at the Hardehausen youth centre, relaxing days at the North Sea and Baltic Sea, a trip to Zell am See in Austria or winter fun skiing in Saalbach-Hinterglemm - the choice is huge. For the youngest adventurers, for example, there are eventful weekends at Hessenstein Youth Castle, while girls can go on a voyage of discovery in Frankfurt am Main. Other highlights include the educational project "Children do circus" in Frankenberg or a relaxing family holiday in Gadow. "It is important that children and young people not only experience physical activity and fun through leisure activities, but can also make social contacts and develop a sense of community," explains District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst. "In 2026, we have once again created a varied programme that provides relaxation and distraction from the stresses of everyday life."
Simple online registration
From 22 January 2026, 8 a.m. sharp, interested parties can register easily and paperlessly online for the many events. This will allow places to be reserved quickly and make organisation easier for the district administration. "Online registration reduces the bureaucratic effort for us and makes it easier for families," explain Matthias Schäfer, Head of Specialist Services, and his deputy Ines Normann. "We are looking forward to a high level of participation and recommend that everyone register early to secure a place."
Detailed information on the programme and the various activities is available on the district's website and from the Sports and Youth Work Department by telephone on 05631 954-1458 or 05631 954-2368 or by e-mail at jugendarbeit@lkwafkb.de.
