New self-help group "Relatives of people with dementia"
The Waldeck-Frankenberg self-help contact centre is providing information about the establishment of a new self-help group, which will be supported and accompanied by the contact centre in the initial phase. The first information meeting on the topic of "Relatives of people with dementia" will take place on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, from 6 - 7 p.m. at the Battenberg Health Centre in Senonchesstr. 3 A. Regular meetings are planned once a month thereafter.
In order to facilitate a good dialogue, the discussion group should consist of a maximum of ten participants. For this reason, please call the organisers of the new group on 06452 9379973 (Yvonne Welker) or 06452 913140 (Angela Weber) to register by 15 December 2025.
Dementia is an umbrella term for a variety of illnesses that are associated with the loss of mental functions such as thinking, remembering and orientation and which mean that everyday activities can no longer be carried out independently. Living with a person suffering from dementia is a major challenge for carers. They are often exposed to enormous pressure and multiple burdens. The new self-help group is intended to provide a safe space to discuss worries and fears and to offer mutual support, suggestions and tips.
If you have any questions about self-help in general, please contact the self-help contact centre by e-mail at shk@lkwafkb.de or by telephone on 05631 954-1888.
