Foster families wanted - New information hotline starts on 4 December

The foster children's service of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district is looking for committed people who would like to give children a loving home. In order to make it easier for interested parties to make direct contact with possible questions on the subject of foster families, a new information hotline will be launched next Thursday, 4 December. In addition to the existing contact channels, this telephone supplements the information offered by the Youth Specialist Service.

Situations can always arise in which parents are temporarily or indefinitely unable to raise, care for and look after their children. In such cases, the children are often taken in by foster families. In principle, any person can be considered as a foster parent if they are sure that their own family is stable enough to take in a child temporarily or integrate them on an indefinite basis. Empathy, tolerance, consistency, perseverance, flexibility and mental and physical resilience are also important.

By calling 05631 954-5010, citizens can obtain first-hand information on the subject of foster carers. The aim of this service is to reduce inhibitions and facilitate dialogue. The information hotline is open every first Thursday of the month from 10 am to 12 noon and every third Thursday from 4 pm to 6 pm - except on public holidays. The Foster Children's Service of the Specialist Youth Service can still be contacted on weekdays via the e-mail address jugend@lkwafkb.de and the telephone number 05631 954-1163. The information hotline is a complementary service to these communication channels. Further information on the topic of foster families can be found under the keyword "foster families" on the district's website at
