New publications about the National GeoparkGrenzWelten
There are new publications about some of the highlights in the GrenzWelten National Geopark. Firstly, a second, revised edition of the geological hiking guide "Geologie und Landschaft der Diemelsee-Region" by Gerhard Fischer has been published (Geo-Führer series). On 56 pages, the landscape and geological highlights around the Diemelsee are clearly explained and recommended as an excursion destination. The booklet is available free of charge from the Geopark or in selected geofoyers such as in Diemelsee-Heringhausen or in the Wolfgang Bonhage Museum in Korbach.
A new 12-page brochure provides information about the dinosaur tracks in Wolfhagen's municipal forest. In the series "Significant archaeological sites", the Wolfhagen prehistoric animal Protochroterium wolfhagense takes centre stage. The publication also brings to life the landscape in which the prehistoric animal lived. The brochure "A visit to the ancestors of the dinosaurs - The quarry in Wolfhager Stadtwald" can also be obtained from the Geopark and is available free of charge in selected geo-foyers and at Wolfhagen Museum. Both publications can be downloaded from the Geopark website.
A volume on the eastern part of the Geopark has now also been published in the "Wanderungen in die Erdgeschichte" series. On 320 pages, author Thomas Pawellek expertly describes the geology, landscape and cultural history of the region and invites you on numerous exciting tours, which he explains in detail and with a wealth of knowledge. The book is available from bookshops for 45 euros. A book presentation will take place at the Wolfgang Bonhage Museum at the beginning of July.
