Healthy living: Information series started with ePA
The electronic patient file (ePA) has been in use throughout Germany since 29 April. To mark the occasion, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg organised a free information event on electronic patient records to kick off its "Well informed - healthy living" series. Around 40 people took the opportunity to find out more about the topic and about digitalisation in the healthcare sector in general in an open exchange and by answering questions.
Vivienne Mekhzoum from the Competence Centre for Telemedicine and E-Health Hessen (KTE) was available as a speaker. The information evening focussed on questions such as
- Will I receive the ePA automatically?
- What do I have to do if I don't want an EPA?
- Who can upload documents to the ePA and how?
- Who can see which documents? Can authorisations be assigned?
- How is my data protected in the ePA?
- Who can help me with questions about the ePA?
most of which could be clarified.
However, Mekhzoum also emphasises: "A lot is still in flux here and there will be many more developments in this area. It is therefore worth staying tuned." Her most important piece of advice is to keep yourself informed via reputable websites, e.g. the Federal Ministry of Health, and to contact your health insurance provider or doctor if you have any questions. The next event in the "Well informed - healthy living" series will take place in Korbach on 12 June 2025 on the topic of "Growing older healthily".
