The Rural Area Department (formerly Agriculture and Village and Regional Development) of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg performs sovereign agricultural and forestry tasks, looks after farms in Waldeck-Frankenberg and implements the European Union's funding programmes for agriculture and landscape conservation measures on behalf of the district. It also has the task of maintaining and further developing the quality of life in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. The fields of activity of the specialist service are correspondingly multifaceted, including the processing of funding programmes and competitions as well as topics such as strengthening voluntary work and promoting democracy and tolerance.
The specialist service is a public authority in the context of all land-use measures and prepares expert opinions - for example on the designation of building areas, construction in outdoor areas, road construction, new forest plantations, but also on various planning issues such as landscape framework and land use plans, regional spatial development plans. It also acts as a link to local farmers in Waldeck-Frankenberg - and is in constant dialogue with local interest groups on the topic of agriculture.
Regional Agricultural Committee
The district agricultural committee is made up of representatives of agricultural and horticultural organisations and is involved in issues of vocational training, agricultural promotion or land-related planning.
