Digital meeting of the Network for Tolerance on 30 November

Limits of what can be said is the title of the 16th network meeting/ 10th democracy conference of the Waldeck-Frankenberg Network for Tolerance. It will take place digitally on Tuesday, 30 November 2021, from 18:00.

According to a recent study, around 45 per cent of German citizens consider freedom of expression to be at risk. "Today, there are bans on speech in some cases," the statement said, addressing a climate of opinion and thus a feeling. Social media also promoted a tendency towards deliberate misunderstanding. According to the study, 66 per cent of most citizens think it goes too far to speak of "people with a migration background" rather than "foreigners". What does all this mean for our democratic society? This is the question the network meeting will explore.

In an interactive round, moderated by Thomas Korte, the participants will enter into conversation with each other:

  • Rev. Johanna Rau, Mandern parish,
  • Lutz Benseler, deputy editorial director of the Waldeckische Landeszeitung and
  • Hendrik Brand, Head Boy Edertalschule Frankenberg

The network meeting will take place online due to the Corona pandemic and will be streamed live via YouTube. Registration via email ursula.mueller@lkwafkb.de is required.

The Network for Tolerance Waldeck-Frankenberg is funded as a Partnership for Democracy within the framework of the federal programme Democracy Live! of the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs and the Hessian Ministry of the Interior.
