Ceremonial presentation of the ESD diplomas at Schule am Goldberg

To mark the 60th anniversary of the Schule am Goldberg, ESD diplomas were awarded to over 60 fourth-year pupils in a festive ceremony. First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese emphasised the school's significant commitment to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in his speech at the anniversary ceremony in the sports hall.

"ESD should enable people to act responsibly and in a future-oriented manner in order to shape their own lives and those of future generations in a positive and sustainable way," emphasised Karl-Friedrich Frese. As a school authority, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is actively committed to anchoring ESD in schools.

The Schule am Goldberg, certified as an "ESD School Waldeck-Frankenberg" since summer 2024, offers a variety of ESD modules with the support of extracurricular partners. In the past two school years, pupils have been able to learn and deepen their knowledge in practical projects in the modules "Bee, bird and insect protection", "Water - the origin of life", "Forest, trees and wildlife" and "Nutrition and food - the impact on the ecological footprint".

The "STARK BEWEGT" programme run by the district's sports and youth work department was also successfully integrated into everyday school life with the "Sport, exercise, health and social issues" module. The programme focused not only on motor skills, but also on social skills in order to promote joint action and the use of strengths.

After the ceremonial presentation of the ESD diplomas on an action stage, a colourful school party in the schoolyard sealed the anniversary, during which the ESD certificates were presented on an action stage. The entire celebration was centred around the theme of sustainability, which served as the leitmotif for the anniversary day.
