Girls spend holiday camp in Paderborn

Born to be wild - better known by the English "Born to be wild" - is what the participants in this year's Girls' Week of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district's specialist service for sports and youth work were able to prove in the cathedral city of Paderborn. In cooperation with the Protestant Youth Twiste-Eisenberg, the youth centres Bad Arolsen, Bad Wildungen and Frankenberg (Eder) as well as the local authorities, young ladies aged 13-17 were invited to the Paderborn youth hostel during the second week of the Easter holidays. The varied programme still left enough time for the girls to get to know each other and make new contacts.

Under the motto of the girls' week "(Pader)Born to be wild", the main aim was to discover the adventurous side of oneself. Trampolining in the Activity Park, the "coolest jump area in all of East Westphalia", and a visit to the "Mindarena", the OWL game arena, with a challenging adventure game in small groups offered the best opportunity to do so. A visit to the world's largest computer museum, Heinz-Nixdorf, was also exciting. There, the girls not only learned about the technical developments of computers, telephones and robots, but were also allowed to become active themselves during a rally and actively try out many exhibits.

As if that were not enough, the participants were able to be playfully creative in the youth hostel in the evening: Bracelets were knotted and designed, prefabricated plaster stones were painted with mandalas, fire painting on wood and interactive combination games like "werewolf" were tried out. Another highlight was the shopping tour with a photo selfie challenge through Paderborn city centre. The girls agreed that Paderborn was a great place to discover one's own wild side during a successful girls' week.
