"All-round healthy": 25 day-care centres receive new seal

25 day-care centres in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district have again been recertified with the "Rundum mundgesund" seal of the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs. This award confirms the facilities' commitment to comprehensive oral health for children. First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese and Dr Lars Zacke, Chairman of the Waldeck-Frankenberg Youth Dental Care Working Group, jointly presented the certificates to the facilities.

The "Rundum mundgesund" seal is awarded by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration, the State Working Group on Youth Dental Care in Hesse and the Health Department, which is home to the Youth Dental Care Working Group, and stands for high quality standards in dental prevention and health promotion for children. It is awarded to day-care centres that are particularly committed to the oral health of their charges and take appropriate measures. "Out of around one hundred day-care centres in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, we were once again able to award twenty-five facilities. Many other day-care centres already fulfil a large part of the criteria prescribed by the state, but it is not yet enough for certification," explained Karl-Friedrich Frese.

To receive the seal, various criteria must be met. These include daily tooth brushing exercises, sugar-free mornings so that the teeth can remineralise and parent talks in which parents are informed about the optimal dental hygiene of their children. In addition, the staff in the facilities have to complete certain further training courses. "These various measures are intended to perpetuate dental hygiene among the children. It is not just a matter of talking about the subject, but of passing on experience," added the First District Commissioner.

The recertification of the day-care centres shows that they continue to make an exemplary contribution to children's oral health. Through targeted prevention measures and comprehensive education, they contribute to children recognising the value of good dental care at an early age and maintaining healthy teeth in the long term.
