Municipality of Allendorf visits the new district administration building in Korbach
Allendorf (Eder) is about to undergo a significant change: After a long planning period, the remodelling and new construction of the administration and community centre has begun. The outdated community centre will be replaced by a modern new building, and the adjoining restaurant will also be renovated. The existing administration building of the municipality of Allendorf (Eder) will remain and will be supplemented by a further building in the course of the construction work in order to provide more space for the growing administration.
Allendorf's mayor Carsten Schäfer, some of his municipal employees and two architects found out what the optimal design of an administrative building can look like during a site visit at Korbach Südring. First District Councillor and Head of the Building Department Karl-Friedrich Frese had invited people to visit the new district administration building there. Frese took the opportunity to personally inform the Allendorf delegation about the special features of the new building during a tour. The Deputy Head of Building Management Dirk Wilke, who was responsible for project management of the new building, provided the Head of Building with expert support.
The owner and delegation paid particular attention to the aspects of accessibility and work organisation, but also to sustainability and energy efficiency, to which great importance was attached in the planning of the building. For example, the building can be heated without the use of fossil fuels and climbing plants on a trellis structure, in addition to the external blinds, provide natural shading.
The heads of the specialist services, who were to move from the "old" district building and from the location of the health department to the new building, were included in the room programme and room organisation of the new building. Practical work organisation requirements could thus be taken into account and implemented in the building design, as well as comprehensive accessibility, also adapted to the needs of citizens as customers of the district. The options for making appointments digitally also received a great deal of attention.
Mayor Carsten Schäfer confirms the aspects under which his delegation had organised the visit. "As we are planning the construction of a new office building ourselves, it was particularly interesting for us to see how others have solved the various challenges in planning and realisation." Particular attention was paid to room layout, technology and common areas.
"We were impressed by the modern, compact offices, which enable optimum utilisation of space," said the mayor. Large window fronts and well thought-out lighting create a pleasant working atmosphere. Attention has also been paid to soundproofing, which makes concentrated work possible. The delegation was able to take many suggestions from the district town of Waldeck-Frankenberg back to the Upper Eder Valley.
