Farm tour for chefs

Chef meets tractor: under this motto, the district invites you to an inspiring farm tour. Here, chefs can get to know farms and their products. The aim is to make regional agriculture tangible, to establish contacts between producers and the out-of-home catering sector and to explore new ways of marketing regional products together. Farms are visited at four selected stations, products are experienced directly and tasted together - with the aim of developing a regional speciality dish.

Another goal is the creation and development of a regional supply structure and value chain, as well as co-operation between agriculture and gastronomy.

Stations:

Biohof Krähling
The Krähling family shows us how regional lentils are grown, harvested and cleaned. In addition to growing lentils, the family also runs a dairy farm.

Falkenhof Strothe
Falkenhof Strothe is a vegetable farm that produces fresh food. From lettuce heads to tomatoes and pumpkins. Everything your vegetable heart desires.

Angushof Sippel
Beef from Argentina? The Sippel family shows us how Angus cattle are reared in the region and which special cuts of meat are suitable for the catering trade in addition to steak and roast beef.

Hofgut Rocklinghausen
Hofgut Rocklinghausen, run by Lebenshilfe-Werk Kreis Waldeck-Frankenberg e. V., combines social commitment with agriculture. People with disabilities look after and care for animals such as chickens and dairy cows and help in the farm's own butchery. Potatoes are peeled, cut and cooked in the associated peeling plant - ideally prepared for customers from the catering trade.

The tour starts at 9.15 a.m. at Biohof Krähling (Frankenauer Straße 6, 05635 Vöhl-Schmittlotheim). Participation is free of charge. You will have to make your own journey. Registrations will be accepted by e-mail until 12 August.
