Sports clubs receive financial support
In the budget of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, a not inconsiderable sum is earmarked for the promotion of local sports clubs, both for the purchase of durable sports equipment and for the construction of the clubs' own sports facilities. In 2021, some clubs were again able to receive a grant from these funds: 15 of them received funding totalling almost 78,000 euros. District Administrator Dr Reinhard Kubat personally handed over the notifications for the five highest funding amounts at a meeting in compliance with the 2G corona rule. A welcome early Christmas present, the association representatives were pleased to say.
The recipient of the largest amount of funding, 26,775 euros, is TSV Battenberg, which has converted its tennis courts into a multifunctional arena. The total costs for the innovative and future-oriented project amount to 178,500 euros; the state of Hesse, the state sports federation and the town of Battenberg also contribute to the funding. Another grant recipient is the Korbach Sports Shooting Club with 7,113 euros for the renovation of the "Am Sandberg" shooting range; the ventilation system is to be renovated, a heating system is to be installed, the roofing is to be renewed and the windows are to be replaced.
TV Lelbach receives a grant of 6,432 euros for the construction of a new floodlight system on its grass pitch. SV Allendorf received 5,425 euros for the installation of a toilet facility in the functional building, LED lamps for the floodlights and the construction of a new wooden pavilion with storage space. Finally, the Frankenberg Riding and Driving Club has renewed the roofing of its indoor riding arena, as there were some leaks after many years of use, and receives a grant of 5,401 euros.
District Administrator Dr. Kubat thanked the five grant recipients on behalf of all sports clubs in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district for their tireless voluntary work for the benefit of health and for meaningful leisure activities. The district will, of course, continue to support this important commitment with financial assistance in the coming years. In the draft of the 2022 district budget, a considerable sum is again earmarked for the promotion of sports.
