Extremist content in chats: online event on 6 July

Homework, appointments and group work - mixed with funny pictures, videos, animations or texts: all this is exchanged as a matter of course by young people in various group chats on various messenger services such as WhatsApp. Unfortunately, extremist content can also be found here time and again. An online event organised by the DEXT centres on 6 July at 6 p.m. will provide information on how parents can deal with this.

Anti-democratic, extremist or inhuman content in class chats is often disguised as satirical or funny, but can even be criminally relevant. What can parents do if they discover such content on their children's smartphones? How can they be sensitised to this issue? And what are the possible consequences under criminal law? Manuel Luxenburger, youth coordinator of the Waldeck-Frankenberg police department, Karsten Vollmar, extremism officer of the state education authority for the districts of Hersfeld-Rotenburg and Werra-Meißner, and Torsten Niebling, staff member of the educational centre for right-wing extremism "Rote Linie", will inform about this in the online event.

It is offered by the four North Hessian centres for democracy promotion and extremism prevention, DEXT centres for short. Participation is free of charge and will take place via the online programme "Zoom". Registration is possible until 5 July by phone 05631 - 954 561 or by e-mail to susanne.rieb@lkwafkb.de.
