District opens halls: Sports possible again from 14 June

As team sports and all indoor and outdoor sports activities are permitted again from tomorrow under the regulations of stage 2 of the Hessian state ordinance with the corresponding hygiene concept, the district will reopen the district-owned halls and sports facilities from 14 June. Dr Reinhard Kubat, District Administrator and Head of the Sports Department, informs about this.

Sports groups and clubs will be able to use the halls again for their activities from next week - after consultation with the district's sports and youth work department. The hopeful development of the incidence figures supports this decision: "The incidence of infection in Waldeck-Frankenberg is showing a cautious downward trend, which is why we will be able to enjoy further relaxations according to stage 2 of the Hessian state ordinance from 10 June," says District Administrator Dr Reinhard Kubat. "Sport will also be allowed again under certain conditions."

"Give clubs the opportunity to use sports facilities as soon as possible".

In recent months, club and team sports have also suffered greatly from the pandemic. "The fact that the development now also allows for relaxation in the sports sector makes us very confident and we would therefore like to give the groups and clubs the opportunity to use the district's own halls again as soon as possible," the district administrator continued. This recommendation will also be made to the towns and municipalities in a meeting to be held on Friday with the mayors, where further details on the use of halls, village halls and public buildings will be discussed.

Preparations for opening underway

All necessary preparations are already being made for the opening of the district's own sports facilities: All groups and clubs have been written to and informed about the requirements for use. Thus, as of 10 June: Team sports may be practised in full team strength, but negative proof is recommended here. Individual sports are permitted in groups of no more than ten persons, whereby fully vaccinated and recovered persons as well as children up to and including 14 years of age do not count here.

"Groups or clubs that would like to use the sports facilities again from next week can contact us," adds Matthias Schäfer, head of the district's sports and youth work department. "We will then be happy to coordinate training times and individual details." Please note that the Korbach large sports hall "Auf der Hauer" is unfortunately not yet available due to the operation of the vaccination centre.
