Meeting of local farmers: Farewell to Fritz Schäfer

At their annual meeting, which recently took place in person again for the first time due to the pandemic, the Waldeck-Frankenberg local farmers not only exchanged views on current issues - but also bid farewell to Friedrich Schäfer, the district farmer who has been out of their ranks since 2020.

For almost 30 years he served as district farmer - and thus as mediator between politics and the agricultural representatives from Waldeck-Frankenberg. "We would like to thank Fritz very much for his many years of diverse commitment," said his successor Martin Vollbracht. "Whenever there is a problem to be solved, he has stood up for the interests of agriculture and represented the farming profession." Friedrich Schäfer was once again honoured for his many years of commitment during the conference and given a fitting farewell.

Another item on the agenda was the professional exchange between the local farmers, which had been significantly restricted in recent months due to the pandemic. During the meeting, the local farmers and the members of the regional agricultural committee visited the Löwer dairy farm in Gemünden-Herbelhausen, which has expanded steadily over the past 30 years. The meeting provided an appropriate setting for exchanging views and networking on further agricultural issues.

The local farmers are the liaison persons for agricultural issues on the spot. One person per locality in Waldeck-Frankenberg is appointed to this post for a six-year term - and mediates between politics and local agricultural concerns as the direct professional representative of farmers at district level. Networking with farmers from other localities takes place through joint annual excursions and farm visits. The chairmanship is currently held by district farmer Martin Vollbracht.
