Family Café "Stroller" starts on 20 March

The Corona pandemic with its contact restrictions has deprived many families and single parents of the opportunity to exchange with each other in face-to-face meetings and to support each other through conversations. It is much more difficult for young children to build up the community with their peers, which is so important for their development, and they have hardly any opportunity for crawling groups or play circles.

The Youth Service of the Waldeck-Frankenberg District with its Early Intervention Department and the Youth Welfare Office of the City of Frankenberg would like to remedy this situation with a very special offer: a family café in the Frankenberg Youth Centre in Hainstraße 3, the "Café Kinderwagen", for parents with children up to the age of three. The offer will start on 20 March 2022 from 14:00 - 18:00. The event will take place in accordance with the currently valid Corona rules.

First District Councillor and Head of the Youth Department Karl-Friedrich Frese explains the objective of the Café Kinderwagen. "We want to offer families and single parents a protected place where they can exchange ideas or just be together socially for once." New contacts can be made in a pleasant and informal atmosphere, and play materials are available for the children. Mothers and fathers with their children up to the age of three are very welcome. "If necessary, specialists are also available to help with problems and suggestions," adds Frese - social workers from the youth centre accompany the event.

Youths and young adults from the youth centre will be hosting the family café, which is planned for a total of six dates until the end of the year. Cakes, coffee and other treats can be purchased for a small amount - donations are also welcome, as the proceeds will be used for a leisure trip for the young people. When it comes to food, attention is paid to sustainable and organically grown produce; fresh food is bought at the weekly market on Saturdays. In addition to conventional baked goods, visitors can look forward to a vegan cake variant and for the little ones there are also cakes suitable for children.

The young people not only prepare the food and drinks, they also set up play corners where they also look after the children when the mothers and fathers want to have an adult-only chat. Of course, the play corners can also be explored by parents and children together.
