District organises fire brigade performance drills

33 teams from Waldeck-Frankenberg will participate this year in the Hessian Fire Brigade Performance Exercises at district level, which the district is organising on 4 June at the Hauerparkplatz in Korbach. Interested parties are cordially invited to watch the spectacle, which starts at 8 am.

Extinguishing a fire, rescuing a person
The fire brigade performance exercises are divided into theory and practice: In the practical part, the fire of a single-family house is simulated first. There, the firefighters will have the task of first extinguishing the fire under real conditions and then rescuing a missing person from the building. The exercise is practice-oriented and based on everyday operations. In the written part, which takes place in the neighbouring Korbach town hall, the participants also have to answer technical questions. Participation also makes it possible to obtain the Hessian Fire Brigade Performance Badge in iron, bronze, silver, gold and gold with additional markings for 5 times, 10 times and 15 times successful participation, whereby an additional questionnaire must be answered for bronze, silver and gold.

Large audience warmly welcomed
"With regard to the tasks to be mastered by the fire brigades in a modern age characterised by technology, the exercise is intended to establish the knowledge already acquired in theory and practice," says the district fire inspector and head of the specialist service for rescue services, fire protection and disaster control at the district Gerhard Biederbick. "The focus is on the professional qualification and performance in handling the resources available in the fire brigade." He cordially invites all interested spectators to the event: "The audience can not only watch the exciting exercises live on site," says Biederbick. "A large audience certainly also provides the firefighters with an additional incentive and joy about the interest in their commitment."

Honours and cash prizes for the best
The practical exercises will last from 8 am to about 11.30 am. The theory will take place at 10 am. The award ceremony for the best teams will take place at 12.30 p.m. at the Hauer car park and will be conducted by the district fire chief together with the first district councillor of the district Karl-Friedrich Frese and the chairman of the district fire brigade association Gordon Kalhöfer. The participating teams can acquire the performance levels bronze, silver and gold upon successful participation. The performance level is awarded according to the performance achieved. In addition to the award certificates, they receive cash prizes of 75, 100 and 125 euros for bronze, silver and gold from the state of Hesse. The next higher district competition will be held on 15 July in Meinhardt-Frieda in the Werra-Meißner district.
