Events for women: District presents annual programme

Financial education, personal development, health promotion: the programme of events for women in the district is once again varied this year. You can now register for the seminars, lectures and camps. Interested parties are cordially invited.

In 2024, there will once again be a mix of tried-and-tested events as well as many new offerings. For example, an entire month - February - will revolve around the topic of financial education - from sustainable and understandable investments to secure pension provision.

Attention is also drawn to the national day of action against catcalling, i.e. verbal sexual harassment, on 7 June: All those affected are still called upon to send their experiences to the district's specialised service for women and equal opportunities. These will be published anonymously on the day of action - i.e. written in chalk on the ground at the "crime scenes".

The district, TSV Korbach and the Soroptimist Club Korbach want to send out a visible signal against violence against women and girls - and are organising a dance demonstration in Korbach's pedestrian zone on 14 February. In preparation, a dance workshop will take place on 3 February from 2 to 4 pm in the gym of the Westwallschule in Korbach. Interested parties are cordially invited.

To mark Orange Day, the international day against violence against women on 25 November, the nationally renowned exhibition "Was ich anhatte" (What I was wearing) will be launched in collaboration with the Wolfgang Bonhage Museum, anonymously publicising the experiences of people who have experienced sexualised violence: Not a voyeuristic look at the offence, but a multi-layered installation of personal items of clothing and statements from determined women. On International Women's Day on 8 March, another exhibition entitled "Strong Women" will be shown at the Korbach Museum.

In addition to many of these special events, there are also many other topics on the agenda. Whether financial issues, women in management positions, life situations such as separation and divorce or mindfulness, health promotion or self-care: "We have once again put together a diverse and varied programme of events for women this year," says Beate Friedrich, the district's women's representative. "We look forward to receiving numerous registrations for the individual events."
