50th birthday: District invites you to an anniversary celebration on 28 and 29 September

A gourmet mile, activities organised by specialist services, associations and initiatives, fun and games for children, young people and families and a varied programme on the action stage: the district will be celebrating a colourful and diverse birthday party on the last weekend in September around the two administration buildings at Korbach Südring 2 and 3 - and invites everyone to join in the celebrations on 28 and 29 September from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day!

Regional gourmet mile and arts and crafts
Waldeck-Frankenberg offers everything your heart desires for anyone who enjoys good food and wants to live consciously and healthily. Of course, you can also get a taste of this at the birthday party. Foodies can look forward to regional tarte flambée and potato pancakes, burgers, homemade sausages, crepes and coffee, fish specialities, homemade milkshakes, Schepperlinge, farm ice cream and organic pasture milk products. An arts and crafts market invites you to stroll and browse, where regional artists will be offering unique handmade jewellery, bookbinding, self-sewn patchwork products, painting, floristry, flowers or table linen, wood art and much more.

Fun and games for children, young people and families
Street football for tolerance on the football court, football darts, foam kiss throwing, can throwing, giant soap bubbles, a climbing mobile, face painting, balloon flying, all kinds of team and skill games and much more await children, young people and families on a large activity area on the meadow around the new building. Kids can have lots of fun here - and parents can relax in beanbags or on pallet furniture with a tasty drink or snack. There's guaranteed to be no boredom here!

Specialist services introduce themselves
The district's specialist services also ensure this. Whether it's a picture quiz, job fair, food tasting, climate experiments or a journey through the history of administration from the typewriter to digital applications: the employees of the district administration have come up with lots of activities to introduce themselves and their tasks and services to visitors. From the presentation of support and counselling services to hands-on activities that provide a glimpse behind the scenes of the district administration's work.

For example, the village and regional development department is organising a picture quiz "Waldeck-Frankenberg from above" with drone images. The specialist service for women and equal opportunities offers yoga and self-assertion courses for women and a colourful art event with wheelchair ramps. Chocolate printers, laser cutters and Lego robotics can be tried out at the media centre of the specialist service for schools and education, while the specialist service for rescue services, fire and disaster control will playfully raise children's awareness of how to behave in the event of a fire and how to handle fire carefully. At the stand of the Food Monitoring, Animal Welfare and Veterinary Services, guests can discover the difference between juice, nectar and concentrate during a juice tasting. There will also be all kinds of information about species-appropriate animal husbandry, including enclosures set up on site.

Action stage in front of the Kreishaus
There will also be a changing programme on the action stage on the Kreishaus forecourt - from the district's annual sports awards ceremony to the presentation of this year's social award for special commitment, dance performances and the award ceremony for the winners of CITY CYCLING 2024. And: The district's employees have also come up with a musical surprise for all guests.

"This year, we are celebrating an extraordinary 50th birthday. We would like to celebrate this special occasion together with all citizens - and cordially invite everyone to our anniversary celebration at Korbach Südring," emphasise District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst and First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese. "We are looking forward to an entertaining programme and would like to thank all employees, initiatives and associations who are involved." The department heads would also like to express their sincere thanks to the town of Korbach, which is supporting the district with its building yard in the preparation and realisation of the event. The entire programme of events and further information on the district's 50th birthday is also available online.
