New construction of the Berlin school is progressing rapidly
The new construction of the Berlin School in Korbach is making good progress. The innovative project, which is being built almost entirely in timber as a multi-storey school building, is setting new standards in terms of sustainability and educational architecture.
The four-form entry primary school will soon have space for 400 pupils. Three learning clusters with classrooms, differentiation rooms and learning and quiet zones are being created. A generous learning space for the entire school community is being created on a total of 4,864.4 square metres
In addition, a special focus was placed on sustainability when selecting the building materials. The building sets new standards in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. The primary energy requirement is expected to be just 38 kWh/(m²*a), which is 39% lower than the legal requirement. Innovative solutions such as a PV system, air heat pump and hybrid room ventilation contribute to this outstanding value.
Completion of the building is planned for summer 2026 so that it can be occupied for the 2026/27 school year. Once all the work has been completed, including the design of the outdoor area, the project is expected to be fully completed in early summer 2027.
