Hikes into the history of the earth: New book about the Geopark

Even before the high-quality publication was presented to the public, District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst was able to take a look at the new book on the GrenzWelten National Geopark, which is exciting and richly illustrated, and not just for geology fans. Geopark director Dr Georg Bresser took the opportunity of a visit to the head of the district administration to personally hand over one of the copies hot off the press. A welcome addition to his reading collection for the upcoming holiday, van der Horst was pleased to say, and after reading it for the district's book collection.

However, this latest volume in the "Wanderungen in die Erdgeschichte" series is only the first of three volumes focusing on the GrenzWelten National Geopark, as Dr Bresser explains. At the start of the trilogy, the focus is on the eastern part of the area, e.g. the Korbach Fissure or the Werbetal valley as well as the Marsberg-Diemelsee region. Together with the two further volumes still to be compiled, a comprehensive geological description of the area will be available for the first time.

The author of the book is geologist Thomas Pawellek, who regularly conducts excursions in the GrenzWelten and has also given specialist lectures on the geological features of the region. The book has been published by Pfeil-Verlag and is available in bookshops at a price of 45 euros.
