Media centre surprises schools with digital advent calendar
This year, the district's media centre is surprising schools in Waldeck-Frankenberg with a special offer for the Advent season: a digital Advent calendar. This contains two differentiated media packages - one for primary schools and one for secondary schools. Every day, a new Edupool medium is activated that can be used directly in lessons.
From Christmas stories to knowledge impulses: the media centre has put together an exciting and interesting package of 24 learning media and films for both primary and secondary schools, which will be made available online for schools on a daily basis from 1 December. The individual modules can be accessed digitally using a QR code.
Age-appropriate learning media and stories
A diverse selection has been put together for primary schools that is atmospheric, educational and age-appropriate at the same time. These include lovingly produced films such as "The First Advent Calendar", "The Story of St Nicholas" or classics such as "The Christmas Story" by the Augsburger Puppenkiste. Thematically broader offerings such as "Christmas in other countries", "Stars, shepherds, angels and a stable" or "Trude's animal" also enrich lessons and can open up exciting discussions in the classroom.
Filmic Advent impulses
Another package with 24 films has been put together for secondary schools. The calendar starts with the title "Arthur Weihnachtsmann", a modern, humorous Christmas film that is ideal for teaching impulses, film discussions and in-depth thematic exploration of values, traditions and modern media culture. Further titles will follow on a daily basis and are suitable for different age groups and subjects.
All schools in Waldeck-Frankenberg will receive printed copies of the Advent calendar for each classroom so that the campaign can be easily integrated into lessons. Teachers will also receive the complete lists of titles for the media intended for their type of school to help them prepare their lessons. "With the Advent calendar, we want to give all pupils an inspiring Advent season and at the same time show how varied digital media can be used in lessons," emphasises Alexander Emde, Head of the Waldeck-Frankenberg Media Centre.
The Advent campaign is part of the state-wide commitment of the Hessian media centres to support schools in digital teaching and learning. The media centres contribute to the further development of modern forms of teaching by providing quality-assured media, training courses and technical support.
