Training courses for firefighters
The Waldeck-Frankenberg district, in cooperation with the Waldeck-Frankenberg district fire brigade association, offers six chs different training courses for fire brigade members and those who want to become members of the 22 towns and municipalities in the district. Further information is available from the district's emergency services, fire and disaster control department or from the local fire brigades.
Basic fire brigade training (basic course)
The aim of the basic fire brigade training is to qualify the trainee to take over basic activities in fire-fighting and assistance operations in the function of a squad member under supervision. Duration of the basic fire brigade training (basic course): at least 70 hours.
Squad leader course
The prerequisite for participation in the course is the successful completion of training as a squad leader. The aim of the training is to qualify the trainee to lead a squad on assignment within the group or squadron. Duration of the course: at least 35 hours. The course is conducted in accordance with state regulations at district level or at state fire brigade schools.
Radio operator course
The prerequisite for participation in the course is the successful completion of the troop member training part 1. The aim of the training is the qualification to transmit messages with radiotelephones in the fire service. Course duration: at least 16 hours. The course is conducted in accordance with state regulations at district level or at state fire brigade schools.
Breathing apparatus training course
The prerequisite for participation in the course is the successfully completed basic fire brigade training (basic course). The course in radiotelephony should be completed before the course in breathing apparatus. The aim of the training is to qualify the trainee to work under respiratory protection. Duration of the course: at least 25 hours. The course is conducted in accordance with state regulations at district level or at state fire brigade schools.
Breathing apparatus training course II (advanced training course for wearing chemical protective suits)
The prerequisite for participation in the course is the successful completion of training as a respiratory protection equipment carrier. The aim of the training is the safe handling of the chemical protection suit. Duration of the course: at least 14 hours. The course is conducted in accordance with state regulations at the site level, at the district level or at state fire brigade schools.
Machine operator course
Prerequisites for participation in the course are the successfully completed basic fire brigade training (basic course) and the respective required driving licence for the vehicle class concerned. The radio operator course should be completed before the engineer course. The aim of the training is to enable the participants to operate mechanically driven equipment - with the exception of mechanised towing equipment - and other equipment carried on fire-fighting vehicles, as well as to impart the knowledge and correct behaviour required for carrying out operations using special rights. Duration of the course: at least 35 hours. The course is conducted in accordance with state regulations at district level or at state fire brigade schools.
