Infection control counselling

  • Performance specification

The Public Health Service will provide you with general information on certain notifiable infectious diseases, e.g.: What should you do in case of infection or disease outbreaks? What are the modes of transmission? How great is the risk of infection? How can I protect myself and my family?

A municipal public health department, as a supervisory authority, ensures public hygiene and the implementation of infection control in its area of responsibility.

As the lower health authority, it advises citizens and institutions on questions relating to infection hygiene and health issues.

One of the sovereign tasks of the Public Health Service (ÖGD) is also the infection hygiene monitoring of medical facilities according to the Infection Protection Act. The responsible public health department carries out infectious hygiene inspections in medical and public facilities and advises on hygiene deficiencies or local outbreaks of infectious diseases.

The ÖGD advises the population on vaccinations, the prevention of communicable diseases and on all topics of drinking water and bathing water hygiene. The advice is free of charge for the citizen and is given anonymously.
