Wind energy, suitability areas

  • Performance specification

In order to concentrate spatially significant wind power plants (WKA), including wind turbines (WEA), in suitable areas and to control them in regional planning, "priority areas for wind energy use" are designated in the regional plans. This is done by the regional planning authorities. In Hesse, these are the regional assemblies in the 3 Hessian regions (corresponding to the administrative districts).

Who do I need to contact?

The regional plans are drawn up by the respective regional assemblies with the involvement of the regional councils as the upper state planning authorities. The approval for the erection of wind turbines with a total height of more than 50 m is the responsibility of the respective locally competent regional council.
