AIDS counselling
Performance specification
Aids counselling is offered in Hesse by health authorities and independent providers (Hessische Aidshilfen, AIDS-Aufklärung Frankfurt). Counselling is confidential, anonymous and free of charge. Counselling can cover topics such as HIV testing, infection risks, infection protection and fear of infection. The AIDS counselling service also provides comprehensive information on HIV infection and AIDS. Counselling can take place in person or by telephone, AIDS service organisations also offer e-mail and online counselling.
It is possible to have an anonymous HIV test at all public health offices and at some AIDS service organisations; in some cases it is necessary to make an appointment in advance.
The Hessian AIDS service organisations also offer a wide range of counselling and support services for people with HIV and their relatives.
