AIDS counselling

  • Performance specification

AIDS counselling is offered in Hesse by public health offices and independent organisations (Hessische Aidshilfen, AIDS-Aufklärung Frankfurt). Counselling is confidential, anonymous and free of charge. Topics of the counselling can be, for example, the HIV test, infection risks, protection against infection and fear of infection. In addition, the AIDS counselling provides comprehensive information on HIV infection and AIDS. Counselling can take place in person or by telephone; AIDS centres also offer e-mail and online counselling.

It is possible to have an anonymous HIV test at all public health offices and at some AIDS support centres; in some cases it is necessary to make an appointment in advance.

The Hessian AIDS support centres also offer a wide range of counselling and support services for people with HIV and their relatives.
