Cultural promotion

Cultural promotion

The subject area of culture has a high priority in Waldeck-Frankenberg. The district has set itself the goal of preserving cultural affairs and the history of the district as cultural assets. It offers consultations and working groups on questions of local and regional culture, documents cultural values and handles relevant enquiries or requests for information.

  • Cultural promotion

The district is also active in the area of material cultural promotion. This ranges from the promotion of projects, choral societies, theatre groups or the district music school association to the preservation of cultural assets, support for concert series, the acquisition of musical instruments, the purchase of works by local artists for the collection of the district hall as well as non-material cultural promotion in the form of advice, networking and exchange.

  • Culture Award

In order to promote cultural creativity, the district regularly awards a cultural prize - from the call for entries, to the preparation of jury meetings, to the preparation of resolutions for the district committee. The award is presented to cultural workers who have rendered outstanding services in the form of a ceremony. A list of previous award winners can be found here.

In 2021, the prize will be awarded for the 20th time. It serves to promote cultural forces at district level and is divided into a main prize worth up to 2,500 euros and a youth prize worth up to 500 euros. Individuals, groups of persons, clubs and associations are now called upon to submit proposals for the Culture Prize and the Youth Culture Prize. Self-applications are also possible. Nominations can be made by persons or groups of persons who are exceptionally active in the cultural field in the district or in relation to the district. The nomination should be accompanied by documents expressing the special, exemplary commitment to be honoured, such as photos, offprints, press reports.

Proposals for potential 2023 award winners will be accepted until 31 May at email: petra.froemel@lkwafkb.de.

  • Exhibitions in the Kreishaus

The administrative offices of the district are not only locations for official activities, but often also venues for exhibitions of all kinds. This includes the regular staging of the exhibition series "Art in the District House" with works by local artists or artists who are connected to the district through birth or a longer stay.

  • History of the district

In addition, the district is also the point of contact for historical developments in Waldeck-Frankenberg, documents them and maintains a regular exchange with institutions such as historical societies and archives in Waldeck-Frankenberg.
