New composition of the Nature Conservation Advisory Council

In Hessen, they advise the higher and lower nature conservation authorities and are completely independent in their recommendations or proposals, their members are personally appointed and not bound by any instructions: the nature conservation advisory councils at the various state levels. In Waldeck-Frankenberg, too, the Lower Nature Conservation Authority - which is part of the district administration's Environment Department - is supported by this body in an advisory capacity. In its new composition after the Hessian local elections in spring 2021, the nature conservation advisory council now includes some new members in addition to experts who have been tried and tested for years.

The nature conservation advisory council is informed by the lower nature conservation authority about fundamental matters of nature conservation. These include, above all, the preparation of legal ordinances as well as nature conservation plans or plan approvals in which the authority is involved. In addition, the nature conservation advisory council receives information about processes under the authority's decision-making or participation powers that are of importance for the entire district.

In the newly composed nature conservation advisory council of Waldeck-Frankenberg, seven recognised nature conservation associations are involved as full members or alternates, as well as representatives from administrations such as the district farmers' association or the municipalities. The institutions in detail:

- Landesjagdverband Hessen e. V. (LJV),

- Hessische Gesellschaft für Ornithologie und Naturschutz e. V. (HGON),

- Botanical Association for Nature Conservation in Hesse e. V.,

- Association of Hessian Fishermen e. V.,

- Naturschutzbund Deutschland e. V. (NABU),

- Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland e. V. (BUND) and

- German Mountain and Hiking Association.

At the constituent meeting of the advisory board, the new chair Karl-Heinz Bastet welcomed the members and wished them a successful term of office.
