"You have the choice": Bundestag elections quickly explained

In the Bundestag elections on 26 September 2021, around 2.6 million people will be able to cast their vote for the first time. Among them, of course, are young people from the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. In order to motivate them to vote and to educate them about the election, the Network for Tolerance Waldeck-Frankenberg has launched the video project "You have the choice".

Already for the local elections in March 2021, the Network for Tolerance had local politics explained by young people for young people in video format. These short explanatory videos in interview format with young political activists were distributed on the Instagram channel "leeresblatt_wafkb". Since the format was well received, it will be reissued in a slightly different format for the federal election: Marvin Fischer, Ronja Fock and Luca Wehner interview, ask questions and explain all about the federal election.

In 30-second contributions, 20-year-old Luca Wehner explains succinctly who is elected in the Bundestag elections, how it works and who is allowed to vote. He also explains that district council elections also take place in our district. Ronja Fock, 19, was out and about in Frankenberg asking young people on the street for their opinions. She wanted to know what young adults would do if they were chancellor, what the current government has failed to do and what they think the election results will be.

Following on from this, 15-year-old Marvin Fischer, who creates the radio station "fischerundcoradio" in his spare time, spoke to young aspiring local politicians and confronted them with the young people's statements. Marvin's guests include Alyssa Scharff, chairperson of the Green Youth Waldeck-Frankenberg, Paula Sieberg, local councillor in Edertal-Anraff, SPD, Regina Preysing, direct candidate of the Left Party, and Bastian Belz, direct candidate of the FDP. They discuss the questions of what fair social policy can look like, what can make climate policy attractive and how politics can become more transparent and youth-friendly.

Every day, one of the videos, which were created in cooperation with the advertising agency "Thinkfox Socia.Motion.Media" from Edertal-Giflitz, is published on the Instagram channel "leeresblatt_wafkb". In addition, the results can be seen on the network's homepage at www.toleranzwafkb.de.

The Network for Tolerance Waldeck-Frankenberg is funded as a Partnership for Democracy within the framework of the federal programme "Live Democracy!" by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and the State of Hesse. The aim is to promote democracy and tolerant coexistence in an immigration society.
