Foundation of self-help group for relatives of drug addicts supported
As family members or friends of drug addicts, one often has a feeling of powerlessness and helplessness. The desire to help the addicted person demands everything from the close environment. A new self-help group is now being founded in Waldeck-Frankenberg so that those affected can exchange information with others: "Parents' Circle - Self-help Group for Relatives and Friends of Drug Addicts" in Bad Arolsen. Supported by the self-help contact point of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, the group will meet for the first time on Monday, 9 May 2022, at 7 p.m. in the premises of the Catholic parish home St. Johannes Baptist in Große Allee 29 in Bad Arolsen. Registration is required.
"All people from the close environment of drug addicts are cordially invited to the meeting," says Kristin Schmidt-Momberg from the self-help contact point. The self-help contact point is happy to support the founding of this group. This will create a new self-help offer for those affected in Waldeck-Frankenberg, which has not existed in this form before. For more information about the first group meeting on 9 May, please contact the self-help centre at 05631 954-888 or send an e-mail to shk@lkwafkb.de. The self-help centre will also take telephone or written requests. They also accept telephone or written registrations for the new self-help group.
Background Self-help contact point
In order to support the self-help groups in Waldeck-Frankenberg in their work, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg opened its self-help contact point in 2015. Its tasks include supporting already existing groups in the district, for example, in finding rooms, applying for funding or creating print products. In addition, the contact point also promotes the founding of new self-help groups. It is also networked with experts from the health system. The self-help contact point has set itself the goal of promoting and anchoring the idea of self-help in the region in order to contribute to a self-help-friendly climate in the district.
