Sparkasse again sponsors 1,000 comforter bears for children

Time and again, children are involved in ambulance missions, in an average of two percent of all missions in the district each year. For many years, Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg has therefore sponsored small plush bears that are distributed to injured children in the ambulance. This helps the little patients to forget the pain for a moment, and even the fear of treatment is not so great or disappears completely. Now there is a new supply of these so-called "comfort bears" - 1,000 of the little comfort dispensers were passed on to the emergency services for distribution in case of emergency.

Comforter bears - these are medium-sized brown soft toys that are supposed to give children a feeling of security in the sterile atmosphere of the ambulance. Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg has been making this campaign possible for quite some time. In the past years, the local bank has regularly handed over the stuffed animals to the service providers in the district. The little bears have served the rescue service providers in the district associations of the German Red Cross in Bad Wildungen, Frankenberg and Korbach/Bad Arolsen, the Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe and the Promedica rescue service well in all kinds of operations.

As a calming gesture, the little bears distract little patients from the pain. They also provide comfort when it is not the children themselves who are injured, but when their relatives have to be cared for by the rescue service. "The rescue service personnel also benefit from this positive effect," emphasises Karl-Friedrich Frese, First District Councillor and Head of the Rescue Service. This is because emergencies involving children are perceived as a special operational situation, as it is not easy to explain the necessary measures to the young patients in an understandable way and to take away their fear in these special situations. The comforter bears help with this. "With the renewed sponsoring by the Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg, this will also be possible in the future," the head of department was pleased to say.

And Jürgen Trumpp, member of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg, is also very pleased that the "Trösterbärchen" support the work of the rescue services. "We are happy to continue supporting the valuable work of the rescue services with the Trösterbärchen. The rescue service makes an important, essential contribution to the region - every day of the week and around the clock. Fast response times and well-trained staff are the basis for its successful operation and if the Trösterbärchen support the work, then we are happy to be there with the sponsorship," says Trumpp.
