DEXT offices invite to Democracy Talks North Hesse

DEXT's "Democracy Talks North Hesse" will take place again this year - this is the abbreviation by which the specialised agencies for democracy promotion and cross-phenomena extremism prevention are now well known. In 2022, the talks will be held under the overarching theme of "Social Cohesion". The next in the series will be an online lecture on educational justice in the sign of the pandemic on 23 June from 18:00-19:30 with the addition of "A question of social cohesion?".

On 23 June, the focus will be on the effects of the Corona pandemic on the education sector, but also on the resulting consequences for public welfare and social cohesion. The most discussed question here is certainly: To what extent have the restrictions in schools led and are still leading to increasing educational injustice among children and young people? In fact, the issue goes deeper. What does equal opportunity through education actually mean? What did it look like before the pandemic-related school closures? What evidence is there from other countries on the impact of school closures on educational inequality and what possible countermeasures seem conceivable to even out the differences or adjust educational attainment?

Speaker Dr Larissa Zierow, Deputy Director of the Ifo Center for the Economics of Education, will get to the bottom of all these questions. At the end of the lecture, there will be an opportunity for an exchange about future perspectives, recommendations for action and the contribution of individual empirical values. The free online event will take place via the Zoom platform. A link will be sent out shortly before the event. It is not necessary to download any special software. Registrations are accepted until 20 June 2022 by the DEXT office of the Werra-Meißner district at the e-mail address DEXT@werra-meissner-kreis.de or tel. 05651 302-1454.
