District ensures more road safety at Lake Edersee

Increase road safety, reduce noise: In addition to the current overtaking ban, the district has installed solid lines in sections of the Ederseerandstraße - namely between Nieder-Werbe in the direction of Waldeck and between the Waldeck turn-off in the direction of the barrier wall over a length of about 500 metres each. The measures are intended to further clarify the overtaking ban in force there.

A hoped-for positive side effect is that overtaking in the area, which is not permitted, will be further reduced and thus also the noise emissions, which otherwise arise from accelerating and braking after overtaking, will be reduced. Furthermore, the measures are intended to help road users comply even better with the speed limit that applies there.

The measure was developed by the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg together with the town of Waldeck, the municipality of Edertal, the road construction authority HessenMobil, the Waldeck-Frankenberg police department and the citizens' initiative "Aktives Waldeck e.V.", which has been working for several years to reduce the noise problem at Lake Eder. Talks were already held in the summer to discuss the situation and to find a joint solution to improve the situation. A few weeks ago, as a result of the constructive dialogue, the solid lines were applied in the corresponding areas. The aim is not only to increase traffic safety, but also to reduce noise as much as possible.
